E-conomic – Copenhagen Cool!
During the Summer I made a flying visit to E-conomic HQ in Copenhagen for a day of meetings and catch-ups! Their offices are great, the only caveat being a central, vertiginous open tread spiral staircase between floors, up and down which everyone else trotted happily, ne’er so much laying a finger on the banister. I have a poor history with stairs, never having come across a flight down which I haven’t tripped at some stage, so I was a tad more cautious, also having learnt from experience that nothing detracts from a client’s confidence in you more than the sight of a headlong hurtle!
Negotiating the stairs with caution and let me tell you that’s not easy with a brief case and handbag in one hand and trousers with a tendency to hook on to a heel at unexpected moments, what I found most impressive as I was shown around all the offices and departments, was the vast number of people, beavering away on a huge range of enhancements and improvements to the system.
I knew the numbers of the staff there of course but knowing gives you no real feeling for the intensity of concentration, the array of screens and the notice boards festooned with apps, ops and enhancements both done, to be done and in process.
Coming as I do from a traditional business background I’ve always accepted that what you want in terms of office software, you pay for and when they do something new and clever, of course you want it and of course you pay for it. But SAS (Software as a Service) just doesn’t work like that, it turns convention on its head because all these bods are consistently raising the standards, adding enhancements, increasing speeds of operation and it all come as part of the package and simply materialises on your screen the next time you log in. What’s not to love?
I would also on a slightly less intellectual level, like to mention the sumptuous buffet laid out every day for lunch at the E-conomic offices on the principle that hungry people don’t produce the best results! Copenhagen, has folks, I have to tell you, a lot to offer!
