Making VAT easy for you in E-conomic

    18 May 2012

When working within your agreement sending customer invoices or receiving invoices from your suppliers, it’s important that your VAT is booked correctly.

Using the default setup the various VAT codes are automatically created for you  – all you have to do is raise and book the different invoices. If you need other VAT codes you can easily create these in the Settings Tab.

You are able to produce three different VAT reports from your agreement.  Your VAT Return report, a VAT detail report showing you the underlying entries that make up the total sum of boxes in the VAT Return and a VAT Variance report which highlights any differences between what VAT has been booked and what the system has calculated.

As you might know the VAT on sales invoices is known as output VAT and the VAT on your purchase invoice is known as input VAT.

In your agreement you can take out a report that gives you the balance between the output VAT and the input VAT – thus giving you an overview of whether you have to pay VAT or have VAT returned to you – this is the VAT return report.

You can find a lot of interesting articles about VAT in our E-copedia

    Have a superb weekend :-)

Putting the “You” into web usability

    7 May 2012

Last week, I joined the Nielsen Norman Group Usability Week 2012 in Amsterdam which was a bit of an eye-opener to me.

I mean, we – E-conomic’s online marketing team – have been basing our content structure, information architecture and web design on Jakob Nielsen’s recommendations for quite some time now, as he is
    - actually per definition – the guru of web usability.

But what really struck me was that these guidelines actually cover how we should write on the web too. And how we shouldn’t write.

Import your data into your agreement

    27 April 2012

If you’ve just taken out an agreement with E-conomic and are coming from another accounting system, you’ll have to create your chart of accounts, and perhaps your customers and suppliers to get going.

It’s indeed teadious work to put in all your different account numbers and create your customers and suppliers  – so why don’t you just skip that process and import your chart of accounts and your customer and supplier details instead!

If you’re able to convert your various lists to CSV files, you will be able to import these into your agreement and thus have your accounts, customers and suppliers created in a jiffy.
