Get friendly with “Design and layout”

    26 August 2011

When you create your invoices or orders, or when you send a reminder to a customer, you are most likely using the default design templates in your agreement.

The templates are available in your agreement from the start, and they should fulfill your document needs on a day to day basis.

Greater wizardry in new Market Package

    24 August 2011

Market Package 42 is now available to all users. This upgrade involves functionality enhancements of wizards, bank reconciliation, e-mail notifications and product stock status tracking changes.

    Automatic progress in wizards
The new Market Package makes it easier to complete wizard steps as you will now jump to the next step once you have completed a step. Furthermore, improved functionality for reconciling bank entries has been added for entries carried forward or backward by more than one month.

New e-mail texts and easier tracking of product stock status changes
New texts have also been added for automatic sending of e-mail notifications to users who upgrade their trial to a full subscription. Finally, it is now easier to track changes in ‘stock status’ product figures (the values ‘On order’, ‘Ordered’, ‘In stock’, and ‘Available’).

New system upgrades for your benefit

    15 August 2011

In E-conomic’s 41st Market Package, we have made a number of small changes that we believe will greatly enhance your user experience.

MP 41 has a few small changes that make a big difference

    Credential retrieval

One important change that we have made is in the way that you request your forgotten E-conomic credentials. If you request your user information, you will now receive an email with your user ID and agreement number, as well as a link to a page where you can change your password.  This is to add extra security for your credentials.

    More updates

We have also fixed issues relating to bank reconciliation in E-conomic, added quotations to the API and more.  Read about all of the updates in this week’s market package here.

We hope you enjoy the latest updates! :)

A small cost for more stability in E-conomic

    10 August 2011

On Sunday the 21st of August we will upgrade our hardware with our hosting provider.

This means that the E-conomic accounting system will be unavailable from 11:01 pm on August 20 – 5:00 am August 21.

    The upgrade

The purpose of this upgrade is to make the equipment that E-conomic is currently running on even better.  We will also simultaneously be upgrading our bandwidth.

We are quite proud of the security already built into E-conomic (you can read more about security here) but during this downtime we would like to add even more functionality.

    The cost

Don’t worry! Our investment in new and better equipment will not cost you a thing.

To perform the upgrade however, we need 6 hours of downtime for the E-conomic system and that is the only price you will have to pay.  We believe that this downtime is worth the benefits that you our customers will get for it. We hope to avoid this downtime bothering you in any way by informing you in advance.

There will be six hours of downtime on Aug. 20-21

     The specs

This coming upgrade will ensure that if the Internet connection is lost in one of the data centres that E-conomic is placed in, your connection will automatically switch over to a backup connection.  Today, this is solved manually, by a technician fiddling with some wires.

But as we all know, even technicians are only human. Just like us, they can get stuck in snowstorms, traffic and the like. This means that precious time may be lost before they reach the data centre and switch to the backup connection if necessary.  Therefore, we think it is important to perform the upgrade to an automatic system.

Then when the upgrade itself is complete, we need to test that everything works according to plan before we reopen access to E-conomic.

    Stay informed

As usual, we will update you here on our blog with information before, during and after the downtime.

We will make sure that you are well informed about what the status of the upgrade is and when you can log in to E-conomic once again.

As always, don’t hesitate to email us if you have any questions or comments!

How to go about VAT codes in your agreement

    5 August 2011

When using E-conomic to book and send invoices to your customers, or to book your supplier invoices, you have to consider the various VAT codes.  Also, if you do business with customers or suppliers in other countries, you need to know how to set up your accounts accordingly.

To make this easy for you, we have already prepared various VAT codes in E-conomic if you choose one of our default setups.

In our default setups, we have created the most relevant VAT codes for your company type.  This way you don’t have to do anything in relation to VAT, whether you do business with customers or suppliers domestically, abroad, or in the EU.

Sometimes however, you may need to have VAT codes other than the ones we have provided for you.  If this is the case, you can easily create new VAT codes and attach them to your various accounts.

You can learn more about creating VAT codes in our E-copedia:

    Have a great weekend :-)
